Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Smoothies are a fast, delicious and nutritious snack or meal replacement.  All you need is a good blender,  some tasty recipes and a handful of ingredients.  They are also a great way to get more fruits and veggies in your diet.  Remember those New Year resolutions?  :-) Check out these recipes:  

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Prep time:  5 mins
Ready In:  5 mins 
Serves 2

Ingredients: 
1 cup soy milk
 1/2 cup rolled oats
 1 banana, broken into chunks
 14 frozen strawberries
 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar

Instructions: 
In a blender, combine soy milk, oats, banana and strawberries. Add vanilla and sugar if desired. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.


Sweet Spinach Smoothie

Sweet Spinach Smoothie

Makes one 16 oz serving

Ingredients:
2 cups spinach leaves, packed
1 ripe pear, peeled, cored, and chopped
15 green or red grapes
6 ounces fat-free plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons chopped avocado
1 or 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Instructions:
In a blender or food processor, combine all the ingredients until blended to the desired consistency.


Blueberry Muffin Smoothie

Blueberry Muffin Smoothie
Makes one serving

Ingredients
1/2 cup milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond breeze)
4 – 6oz vanilla Greek yogurt (1 individual-sized container)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen banana (or a whole banana if you like your smoothies sweeter)
1/4 cup raw, uncooked oats
1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 cup ice cubes

Instructions:
Add ingredients to blender in the order listed above then blend until very smooth, about 2 minutes.
