Fall is coming! One of the popular fall activities is visiting your local apple orchard for some apple picking fun! Second to that is making delicious baked goods with your bounty. We've found some tasty recipes to try out this fall - even a savory apple pizza. Oh, yum! Happy baking! Which is your favorite?
Apple Blondies
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
Yield: 12 Bars
Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cup white sugar
3 eggs
3 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoon baking powder
3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
3 cups apples, diced (a tart baking apple is best like granny smith)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1 Tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray a 9 x 13 casserike dish with cooking spray.
In a bowl, mix together butter, brown sugar & 1 1/2 cup white sugar.
Add eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, salt & baking powder, mix well.
Add flour and mix again. Batter will be thick, don't worry!
Add apples and walnuts (if desired) and mix well. Batter should begin to thin to more brownie like consistency.
Spread mixture evenly into prepared pan.
In a small dish, mix 1 Tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of apple mixture.
Bake for 55 minutes or until brownie consistency then remove from oven.
Allow to cool. Once cooled, cut into bars and devour immediately by itself or with a large scoop of ice cream!

Maple Apples, Blue Cheese and Bacon Pizza
Ingredients
Store-bought or homemade pizza dough
2 small apples thinly sliced
1/3 cup maple syrup
12 ounces shredded Italian blend cheese
4 slices cooked bacon cut into thick pieces
1/2 cup roasted garlic cloves
3 ounces blue cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
Place the sliced apples in a small bowl and pour the maple syrup on the sliced apples and set aside.
Divide the pizza dough ball into 4 sections, reserving half of the dough for another use. Stretch the dough and place on a small baking sheet, working the dough into a rectangle. If the dough springs back, let it rest for a few minutes then continue to spread it into the corners of the baking sheet.
Layer the dough with half of the shredded Italian cheese then top with slices of the apple, half of the bacon, garlic cloves and chunks of blue cheese.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden. Drizzle with additional maple syrup, cut and serve immediately.

Ingredients
Apple Drop Cookies
1/2 cup butter softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg
1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped peeled apple
Caramel Frosting
6 Tbsp . butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp . vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Apple Drop Cookies
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves and beat until well combined.
Beat in the egg and apple juice until well combined.
Add flour and diced apples and beat until just combined not overmixing.
Drop dough by a rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheet.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheets or by using parchment paper.
Bake in a 375 degrees oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are light brown or until tops spring back when pressed.
Cool on sheets for 1 minute, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Caramel Frosting
In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, cream, brown sugar and salt, and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla.
Cook, stirring occasionally until mixture just begins to boil; remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Let cool, then stir in the powdered sugar to make a good frosting consistency.
Spread the frosting over the cooled cookies.
Sea Salt optional.
If you like, sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
Store in an air-tight container in refrigerator.
Recipe Notes
These cookies were made with a large cookie scooper - 1/4 cup. Makes 18 cookies and bake 15 minutes.
You could add your favorite nuts or caramel bits in the cookie dough too.
